It’s hard for me to believe that 2009 is almost over. This year has been a big transition for me and I expect 2010 to be an even bigger year!

A lot of people have asked me what’s going on with the “Villikon Chronicles: Genesis of Evil” movie, and there’s finally a couple teaser videos available! Check them out at my YouTube channel. It’s possible that the audio might not be working. So, if that link doesn’t work, try this one.

I recently had the opportunity to see a film that many people have recommended to me. I’m so grateful to the filmmakers who created it, because it has a message I think we all need to hear. If you get a chance, watch “Food, Inc”. I think it’s important that we all become more conscious of what we partake in and what kind of world we’re creating. Another eye-opening film along the same lines is “The Beautiful Truth”. For this holiday season, I recommend that you take the time to watch one or both of these insightful documentaries for not just your own health, but the well-being of the world.

Happy Holidays and may 2010 bring you all the joy and abundance you deserve!!

Joanna

First, I want to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!! I’d also like to tell you how grateful I am for you and your taking the time to read my newsletters to support my career. THANK YOU! It means a lot to me.

For the first time ever, I have a film showing in New York! Avé Maria has been accepted into the NYC Horror Film Fest and will premiere Saturday, November 21st! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend, but the film’s writer & director, Chris Aurilia, will be there. So, if you’re in NY, stop by to see me on the big screen and say hi to Chris! It’s his directorial debut! Check out the trailer for the film here.

Since my birthday was on the 26th last month, I got to spend my birthday money recently! The first thing I bought was my favorite face cream – Crème de la Mer. A lot of people ask me what I do for my skin, and I can’t speak more highly of this moisturizer. It’s not cheap, but I spent years searching for the right face cream that would moisturize, yet not make my face greasy. It even helps to heal spots and scars! I love this stuff and, for November, Crème de la Mer is my recommendation.

With Love & Gratitude,

Joanna

It’s October and that means two things: my birthday (on the 26th) and Halloween! Appropriately for this creepy holiday, “The Crypt” will be featured in the GoreZone Magazine Weekend of Horror. The festival runs in London over October 31st and November 1st. If you’re in the UK and want to see me as Adrianna on the big screen, you can purchase tickets here.

My reel has been updated with a clip from “The Crypt” and you can also view a preview video of me as Adrianna.

I attended my first red carpet event this month! It was another Red Carpet Comedy tour presented by CCM. I was nervous because I did my first red carpet interviews! You can see a little snippet of one of them with Renegade Reporting’s Stephen Seidel here. Also, photos of me at the event are up on my Facebook and MySpace.

After 3 years of all work and no play, I finally went on vacation! I just returned from Mexico where I had the amazing opportunity to swim with dolphins. My vacation of choice, and what I recommend this month, is a cruise! Where else can you pay a flat fee and have EVERYTHING, from the cooking and cleaning to the entertainment, taken care of for you all at once? While I haven’t yet sailed on all the cruise lines, I fancy Royal Caribbean.

With love,
Joanna

p.s. Didn’t get to hear my radio interview last month? Or maybe you just didn’t have enough time! Here’s a 7-minute preview:

Joanna Ke, Newest Talent on ‘Indie’ Films September 21, 2009

LOS ANGELES, California–Asian American Actress actress Joanna Ke is exploding onto the “indie” (independent movies) scene with one film currently in theaters, two in post, and another one about to start.

These are “The Crypt,” “Avé Maria” and “Villikon Chronicles: Genesis of Evil.” And later this fall, Joanna will begin production as the title role in the comedy short “Trixie Woo.” When a lonely geek hires an unlucky escort, the most improbable pairing might just result in a perfect match.

Remarked Joanna: “What I really like about working on indie films is it’s a very laid-back atmosphere. Everybody on-set can joke around with each other and no one’s taking themselves too seriously, but at the same time everyone is focused and professional when it comes time to work because we’re all there for the project.”

Joanna is trying to escape alive in the horror film, “The Crypt,” currently in limited theatrical release and released on DVD last month. She will again be fighting for her life in the thriller “Avé Maria,” scheduled for release next year after hitting the festival circuit.

Joanna brings a graphic novel series character to life in the film adaptation “Villikon Chronicles: Genesis of Evil,” created by Bryan J. Kinnaird. Originally drawn as a pair of eyes in the sci-fi serial, Ke fleshes out the ship’s computer into the fully-realized character, Sector Holo Command Chief Kymri Tryon.

Executive producer Kinnaird said, “Joanna was absolutely striking on the set as the holographic template for the military’s Advanced Warning Network. Her character was derived from the pages of Villikon Chronicles Book #1. We were lucky to find an actress who would accommodate such a small role and become what had only been glimpsed as hauntingly seductive eyes in the series. Joanna was perfect!”

Joanna dreamed of becoming an actress, but always believed she was too shy for a career in front of the camera. So, after graduating high school, the Houston native moved to Arizona to study digital media production at the Art Institute of Phoenix. It wasn’t until some fellow classmates convinced her to act in some of their projects that Joanna put her fears aside and changed her creative direction.

She began studying acting, booked some professional jobs and quickly earned a stellar reputation in the acting community in Arizona. Earlier this year, she landed a role opposite Sarah Chalke and Leisha Hailey in the Lifetime television miniseries “Maneater,” directed by Timothy Busfield, and based on the book of the same name by Gigi Levangie.

It was immediately after this production that Ke made the decision to move to Los Angeles. She hasn’t stopped working since. Scottie Ward at Coast Creative Management currently represents Joanna. For more about her, visit: www.JoannaKe.com.

She’s busy and versatile. Last month, Joanna performed on stage in “8 Shades of Alice,” a play by Layon Gray based on his award-winning play “Diary of a Catholic School Dropout.” Venue was the Whitmore-Lindley Theatre Center in North Hollywood.
